Customized Luxury Tented Mobile Safaris focus primarily on some of the most striking and unique places in Africa – the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert.

Botswana safari - Wild dog

The Okavango is a natural wonder – an inland delta formed by rivers flowing from the highlands of Angola to create an oasis for hundreds of different species of mammals, fishes, reptiles, birds, and plants.

The Kalahari is one of the oldest deserts in the world, predating even the dinosaurs that walked across it. It is still a place of stark beauty, wide skies, silence, and a wealth of wildlife.

Accommodation consists of spacious walk-in tents, complete with beds, linen and all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay in the bush. Each tent has its own hot bucket-shower and long-drop toilet situated not far from the tents. Meals and beverages are served in the mess tent, where guests spend the evening reliving the highlights of the day. Three-course meals are prepared to the highest standard and served with a selection of the best South African wines.

Botswana Mobile Safari Camp
From the beautiful and comfortable base camp, you can undertake a number of different adventures depending on areas visited. Embark on walks through the African bush, explore the many lagoons and channels of the Okavango by boat, cross the wide open spaces of salt pans by quad bike, catch sight of a myriad of bird species, and take game drives during the day and at night to see the wonderful variety of animal life. In addition, you can experience the rich culture of the people living in and around these rich areas.

The open vehicles used are designed for comfort and are excellent for game viewing. The amenities in the vehicle include a car fridge for cold drinks and for keeping film cool, specially adapted camera supports for the keen photographer, bean bags for extra camera support, full medical box, a vehicle-camp radio and satellite telephone in case of an emergency, tools, jacks and vehicle spares.

Your guide is Roger Dugmore, one of Botswana’s most highly qualified professional guides.

Roger has been conducting photographic safaris since 1989 and his passion, knowledge and experience of wild areas translate into an unforgettable adventure in some of the most beautiful parts of Botswana. His personal interests lie in photography and videography, and many of his photographs have been exhibited in Botswana’s National Museums. He has assisted film crews in the making of many documentaries, including “Aspects of Life” and “The Last Edens” featuring the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert.

Roger’s philosophy is that every safari is a journey of discovery, where each sunrise marks the beginning of another day of adventure. He is uniquely qualified to take you to wild and untamed areas in absolute comfort, including three-course meals, hot showers, cold drinks, and gives personal attention to your satisfaction and enjoyment. He prides himself in the number of guests that return each year, eager to once again experience their Roger Dugmore adventures.

These itineraries are custom-designed to make every trip unique and memorable. The camps are located with special attention to each particular area, detail, and your interests and enjoyment.

A tented safari is the classic, old fashioned way of traveling through the African wilderness. Think back to the trips taken over a hundred years ago in eastern Africa, these Classic Tented Mobile safaris provides similar character and individual attention for adventurous travelers in the 21st century!

While on your safari you can be guaranteed a degree of luxury: the camps have a full staff including a chef, waiters, tent keepers and drivers. Meals are prepared according to the highest standards and your dietary requirements. You will always have a selection of soft drinks, fine wines, spirits, and mineral water at hand, and our vehicle fridges guarantee cold drinks on the game drives.

But perhaps most important, a tented safari means you will enjoy great mobility through these untamed areas. When the camp is to be moved, you will wake in the morning to enjoy a wonderful breakfast while around you the camp is being taken down. You will then have a leisurely game drive with a picnic lunch, and then arrive at your new destination, with the camp miraculously resurrected, your shower water hot, a campfire on the go and your supper being prepared!

Also, being on a tented safari means we can choose your sites according to seasonal movements of game and local conditions. Camps are sited according to your interests and desires to explore the wilderness. The luxury tented mobile safaris cater to a maximum of twelve guests to keep your safaris private and personal.
