No set departure dates on this itinerary.
Price on application (other lodges can be used)
We typically buy permits for Buhoma & Ruhija, which are accessible from the Buhoma area.
One of the Buhoma families, and the Ruhija families, require a road transfer to the start point.
This does not deviate from the enjoyment of the trek (and could be considered as enhancing your trip as you are seeing a different part of the region).
Furthermore, your permit may be organized for day 3, or 4, of your safari.
It will depend on availability at the time of purchase.

Day 1:
Buhoma Lodge, one of only two located inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, is on the edge of the forest offering spectacular views of the forest and is only a short walk to the starting point for gorilla tracking. Its peaceful location means that you may truly relax after your tracking experience while you listen to the birds and primates in the forest. Each cottage has its own private veranda and is self-contained with a shower, flush toilet, and basin. There is a cozy central lounge area for you to unwind around the evening fire, and meals are served in a separate dining room.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in south-western Uganda, covering parts of Rukungiri, Kisoro, and Kabale Districts. This is the richest forest in Uganda in terms of the number of plant species as the area is one of the few large expanses of forest in East Africa where lowland and montane communities merge. The valley bottoms contain a dense ground cover of herbs, vines, and shrubs, with only a few trees - hence its name "the Impenetrable Forest". This is also one of the richest faunal communities in East Africa where about 50% of the world's population of endangered Mountain Gorillas live. The forest is also home to several endangered species of birds.
Gorilla trekking may be fairly strenuous - up to six hours or longer is not uncommon - at relatively high altitudes. Mountain Gorillas are wild animals and, as such, sightings cannot be guaranteed. The success rate however is well over 90%.

Early morning collection from your Entebbe hotel for your flight on a light aircraft to Kihihi airstrip which takes just over an hour. Transfer through local villages and along mountain roads to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a World Heritage site (a drive of +-90 mins). Considered the most diverse forest in Uganda, Bwindi is one of the richest ecosystems in East Africa and home to over 120 mammals, 345 species of birds, 200 species of butterflies, and 160 species of trees. The park contains an estimated one half of the world’s population of endangered Mountain Gorilla, making it
an extremely valuable conservation site.

Day 2:
You will be escorted to the National Parks headquarters after breakfast to meet your guides for the day for your gorilla trekking experience. An early morning trek into the forest on the slopes of the volcanoes, led by experienced trackers, will bring you amidst a family of Mountain Gorillas. These massive primates are extremely rare, with only approximately 880 remaining. You will get within meters of the family, and be privileged to spend time with them.

Head back to Buhoma Lodge for a complimentary massage after your trek, or explore the surrounding Bwindi community.
