Honeyguide Tented Camps are situated in one of South Africa’s prime conservation areas and are flanked to the east by the Kruger National Park, to the south by the Sabi Sands, and to the north by the Timbavati Reserves. Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps have traversing rights over 10,000 hectares of the 23 000 hectares Manyeleti Game Reserve. The reserve is home to Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Elephant, and Rhinoceros - commonly referred to as the “Big 5”, but also hosts a variety of other interesting species, as well as an extensive diversity of birds, trees, and plant life. With the ever-changing landscape, no two days are the same nor are the morning or evening game drives. The region is renowned for sightings of cats and almost every game drive guarantees a sighting or signs thereof.

 

 

The tents are designed to reflect Hemingway’s Africa, providing guests with the basics of a traditional safari lodge, without losing a sense of closeness to the bush. There are 12 tents that are nestled in a Tamboti grove overlooking a dry river bed. The rooms are fitted with all the comforts one will need and can cater to twin or king beds. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a sunken concrete bath, double shower, his & hers basins, and a separate toilet. Tea and Coffee are freshly brewed and served to your tent soon after the morning drumbeat - the traditional wake-up call. These sounds seem to incite the birds to sing along and this is a sure delight to wake up to. Due to the layout and terrain of Mantobeni Camp, we only accommodate children over the age of 12 years.

 

The reception area is comprised of a large sitting area, an outdoor area with a splash pool & sun loungers, a bar, and an extensive climate-controlled wine cellar. Game visiting the nearby watering hole can be seen from the swimming pool deck which adjoins the reception area.

 

 

Honeyguide Khoka Moya Camp is situated on both sides of a river bed, offering an authentic African experience without sacrificing luxury, safety, or comfort. Guests are welcomed at our large, colorful lounge, and dining areas of the camp overlook the green lawns which lead to our swimming pool. At Khoka Moya we also have an extensive climate-controlled wine cellar and bar. Each of the 15 large tents is furnished in a comfortable, contemporary style. Each tent has king-sized beds we can (convert these to twins should this be required) and a large-sized day bed. The tents are en-suite with double showers, his & hers basins, and a separate toilet. Khoka Moya Camp welcomes children of all ages. The tents measure 60 square meters and can comfortably accommodate families of four, all protected with mosquito nets. Babysitting can be arranged at Khoka Moya Camp, provided advanced notice is given for the necessary arrangements to be made.

 

Guests are taken on game drives in open game viewing vehicles in the early morning and late afternoon/evening. Late afternoon and evening drives include sunset drinks, views over the Mohwareng Hills, and glimpses of nocturnal creatures. The larger game frequently sighted in the reserve includes elephant, rhino, lion, and hippo. In between meals and drives, watch the game and birdlife pass by while relaxing by the pool or take a walking safari through the deep bush, accompanied by an experienced, armed ranger; it can be hot work, but it’s very exciting – seeing the animals from a vehicle just doesn’t seem to compare. Group tours are available to the nearby village of Welverdiend, where guests will learn about the relationship between traditional and contemporary living.
