Ponta d'Ouro is situated about 10 kilometres from the Kosi Bay border with South Africa, about 630kms from Johannesburg and 460 km's from Durban.

Ponta do Ouro is situated in Southern Mozambique; just 10 km from the South African border or about 100km from Maputo. Ponta Mamoli and Ponta Malongane are close neighbours. In these areas, accommodation is usually quite basic with a couple of exceptions (like White Pearl Resort). Roads are usually sandy beach roads so a 4x4 is required although transfers can be arranged.
Ponta do Ouro has a great year round average temperature of 28 degrees celsius. The rainfall is mostly between November - April and typically during this time it can be very hot and humid.
Dolphin or Whale Sharks can be spotted and you can swim and dive with them. Turtles lay their eggs on the beaches (in season) and beach walks are great. A traditional open air market is found in the main part of the quaint town.
There is excellent diving and deep sea fishing in the area and surfing is also popular in Ponta d'Ouro.
