Summer is from November to April with temperatures of between 23 - 33 degrees Celsius. Winters are mild (from May to October) with temperatures between 17 - 23 degrees Celsius. The wettest months (occasional cyclones) are between December and March with an average rainfall of 900mm on the coast and 1500mm on the central plateau.

Civil Weddings in Mauritius
Copies of the following documents are required:
- Copy of the main pages of each passport,
- Birth Certificates
- Any document relating to a previous divorce (in case the bride has obtained her final decree of divorce less than 10 months before the new wedding date, a medical certificate should be produced confirming that she is not pregnant).
- Proof of change of name, if applicable,
- Death certificate in case of widow/ widower
- A letter from both parties attesting that they want to get married in Mauritius and on the chosen date. This document should bear the current permanent address of each party and their profession.
- Originals of the civil status documents whose date of issue shall not be more than 03 months to be produced for verification purposes at the central Civil Status Office. However, where any party cannot produce any civil status document, he may instead produce an affidavit sworn in his country of residence and apostilled by a competent authority or in such form as the Registrar of Civil Status Office may approve.
This must be sent to the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages four - five weeks prior to the wedding.
- Originals must be produced on the wedding day.
- Documents not in English must be translated into English and duly stamped
- The wedding ceremony can take place between Monday – Friday, excluding public holidays and subject to the availability of the registrar.
- Couples need to be on the island 2 working days (preferably 3) prior to the ceremony and most hotels require a minimum stay of 7 nights.
- Before the big day, a visit to Port Louis will be arranged to sign affidavits.
Unusual places to get married in Mauritius
Saying ‘I do’ many metres below the Indian Ocean in a submersible will enhance the dream-like quality of the day and certainly make the wedding photographs stand out.
Many couples choose to get married:
- In the grounds of their hotel, either on the beach, in the beautiful gardens or in a specially decorated wedding gazebo,
- On private islands just off the coast of Mauritius, including the beautiful Ile Des Deux Cocos, which will make the wedding extra special.
- Bride and groom can tie the knot aboard a gleaming white catamaran whilst cruising to a small private beach for the wedding breakfast and optional sega show.

Bride carrying their bridal dress should pack it carefully in tissue in a suitcase or box marked ‘Fragile’ . This will then be stored in the Fragile Container on the aircraft. Lighter gowns, can be packed in a cardboard box and placed in the overhead storage container of the plane.
