Chobe Safari Packages on the 5* Zambezi Queen offering luxury African River Safaris on the Chobe River which divides Namibia's Caprivi Strip from Botswana's Chobe National Park.
The ultimate in romance and luxury combined on the 5* Zambezi Queen.
Teeming with life, Chobe National Park sprawls across some 11 000m of lush African bush and is home to the largest populace of elephants in the world – currently estimated at roughly 120 000. Along with the elephants, prides of leopard and lion, huge groups of buffalo, waterbuck, roan, eland, sable, giraffe, and, if you are lucky, one of the rare puku, can also be seen. In the river itself watch out for hippo and crocodile, and keep your binoculars at the ready for spotting a rich selection of birdlife (over 400 species). Experience a 5* safari with a difference.
It is on this great expanse of untamed water an adventure, unlike any other awaits. Why join the crowds on land-based game drives when you can experience the thrill of it all from your own private suite aboard a luxury 45-meter boat?
The Zambezi Queen operates in 5-star opulence and is all about pampering, indulgence, and superior comfort.
Whether you are dining in the restaurant watching the animals gather at the water at dusk, game viewing from one of our private boats, or attempting to land your first tiger fish, the professional team will be on hand to meet your every need.
The Zambezi Queen is based a few kilometers from where four countries meet, namely; Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Namibia.
The view is ever-changing: elephants wading in the shallows or crossing in merry groups, fish eagles wheeling overhead, sunsets that will take your breath away.
10 Suites and 4 Master Suites - All Suites and Master Suites are en-suite with private balconies, king-size beds (can on request be divided into twin beds), and are furnished to the highest level. With thoughtful amenities to cater to your every need.
Two of the four Master Suites have their own private deck with outdoor furniture and the remaining two having superb panoramic views with doors and windows on two sides. All Suites accommodate 2 guests except for two suites (24 and 26) which have an extra sleeper couch.
The top deck consists of the dining room, the lounge including a wood-burning fireplace, a bar, and a sunbathing area complete with a pool. The interior furnishings have been designed by one of South Africa’s top designers and this can be seen by the elegant, timeless look that has been created. Also to be found in the living area is a library of books, numerous games, and a telescope for studying the stars at night.
When looking at the design it is apparent that no expense has been spared in creating a houseboat of a world-class standard, and this is especially so, when one considers this boat was built on the banks of the Chobe River.
The Queen, however, is not just a pretty face. She is smart, and she is green, in line with the Mantis Group’s commitment to sustainable, responsible tourism. To help preserve the environment, the boat uses a jet propulsion system rather than conventional propellers, which reduces damage to the river bed and enables the boat to operate in very shallow water. At night, the Zambezi Queen switches over to a battery power system for lighting, refrigerators, and other requirements, so that guests can enjoy the sounds of the bush rather than the hum of machines. Solar panels help provide hot water, while taps and showers incorporate the most advanced water-saving designs available.

Check-in time is between 1 pm and 4 pm and check-out time is between 8.30 am and 10.30 am.
Please note: Availability is quite difficult in peak times so we would recommend booking well in advance. If we still don't have availability, the Ichobezi and Pride of Zambezi now form part of the Zambezi Collection (called Chobe Princess) so are a great 4* option too - have a look at the options at our Chobe Safari House Boat page.
For scheduled departures, the itinerary would normally be:
Day 1

Late afternoon, once all our guests have boarded, we go in search of some big game by tender boat. This is the perfect time of day to make the most of that golden glow of the African sunset by getting some iconic shots of the animals as they gravitate towards the river before night falls.
Return back to the Zambezi Queen, no doubt with a stunning array of photos waiting to be swapped with fellow guests. After a quick freshen up, the Captain will await you on the upper deck with a welcome drink, ready for an official welcome and his safety briefing. The cheerful atmosphere continues as you make your way to the dining room where a delightful three-course dinner is served with an excellent choice of paired wines. Retire to the distant night sounds of Africa.
Day 2
Unlike most lodges expecting guests to rise at the crack of dawn, we have a leisurely start to the day when meeting up for breakfast on the upper deck before the morning activities start.
Returning to the Zambezi Queen, tonight you’ll enjoy an African-themed dinner before settling down for a quiet night on the Chobe.
Day 3
Enjoy a morning cruise during breakfast before bidding our crew a reluctant farewell.
Three Night Itinerary:
Day 1 & 2 - same as 2-night itinerary.
Day 3
After a hearty breakfast, you will have the choice of either a water-based river safari by tender boat or fishing for tiger or bream. Return for lunch on-board the Zambezi Queen and some time for relaxation before the afternoon activities start. Again, you have the choice between tiger or bream fishing, game viewing by tender boat, or bird watching.

Return to the main vessel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Enjoy a morning cruise during breakfast before bidding our crew a reluctant farewell.
NB: SAILING IS SUBJECT TO WEATHER AND WATER CONDITIONS AND IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CAPTAIN
The Zambezi Queen is conveniently located about 80km from both Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and Livingstone Zambia and 3km from Kasane International Airport; all of which have international airports and operate regular scheduled flights out of Johannesburg, with Kasane been ideally suited to charter flights.
Transfers from the airport to the boat are by road and take approximately 90 minutes. Road transfer guests will be collected from immigration situated on the banks of the river at Kasane in Botswana for the 10-minute boat transfer to the Zambezi Queen's docking station.
Access to the Zambezi Queen on the Namibian side is made possible by a 30-minute charter flight from Victoria Falls to Impalila Island followed by a 10-minute boat ride aboard one of our tender boats.

Join our guide in the afternoon for a water-based safari on tender-boat where you can get up close to some of the approximate 120 000 elephants that the Chobe is known for.
