All camps are set in the Okavango Delta area and includes a donation to the Bana Ba Letsatsi (Child Aid project) in Maun (except Dinaka which is in the Central Kalahari).

We have a number of Ker Downey safari packages so here are a couple of them - we can add on to these so you get to experience other attractions in Botswana or cross the borders into Namibia, Vic Falls or South Africa.
 
These camps are closed between 6th January - end February annually when alternative camps can be offered.

2 nights at Kanana & 2 nights at Okuti
Day 1 & 2 – Kanana (Okavango Delta)
On arrival into Maun airport, a Ker & Downey representative holding a signboard with your name will meet and welcome you to Botswana. After collecting your luggage, you will be escorted to the light charter aircraft to meet your pilot for a short flight over the Okavango Delta to the camps airstrip where on arrival you will be met by your guide who will transfer you on an open safari vehicle to camp.

Kanana is a hidden jewel set on the Xudum River in the southwest Okavango Delta. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palms, figs, ebony and knob thorn, and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The nature of the habitat means it is the perfect place to experience the diversity of species found within the Okavango Delta.

At Kanana guests are accommodated in seven spacious, twin-bedded tents and one family tent, set on raised teak decks, offering breathtaking views across the waterways. All tents offer en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. The tents are well spaced affording privacy, whilst still being within comfortable distance from the central dining and lounge area.
 
Dependent on the annual floods, the level of water transforms this dry camp into a true water experience and in the early months of the year you may actually enjoy the visible spectacle of the water rising around the camp. Experience magnificent game sightings during drives as well as the unique experience of exploring the delta’s beautiful waterways by boat. There is also a Sleep Out Deck that offers guests the opportunity to spend the night under the splendid African night sky.
 
Situated in the Kanana Concession, the focus of activities at Kanana varies with the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta. Activities include morning and late afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Alternatively you may explore the crystal clear waterways by Mokoro (Glass-bottomed Mokoro’s (canoes) enable you to view the underwater world of the delta) or motorboat, and enjoy the magnificent variety of birds, plant and reptile species found in the area. Birding is spectacular, and Kanana hosts a seasonal heronry (from July to December) that teems with activity (Exclusive motorboat access to Southern Africa’s largest heronries), a Kanana highlight which converts all visitors to avid ‘twitchers’. Excellent area for birding with regular sightings of Pel’s Fishing Owl. Guided bush walks are highly recommended as is fishing for tilapia, African pike and sharptooth catfish. Your Professional Guide will assist you in planning your days to best explore the area. 
 
Attractions at Kanana
Situated on a private concession that allows guided walks, mokoro excursions and night drives in addition to game drives and motor boating (water levels permitting).
Private access to one of the largest heronry’s in the Okavango Delta by motorboat.
Excellent area for birding with regular sightings of Pel’s Fishing Owl.
Spin fishing throughout the year (best months September - April).
 
Day 3 & 4 – Kanana to Okuti (Moremi Game Reserve)
After breakfast is a morning transfer back to the airstrip to board the light aircraft and enjoy a scenic flight across the Okavango Delta to the Moremi Game Reserve. You will be met at the Xakanaxa Airstrip by your guide and from there it is a short road transfer to Okuti.

Okuti Camp
 
This delightful camp lies alongside the Maunachira River, which flows through the Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world renowned Moremi Game Reserve. Offering a welcome touch of comfort, Okuti has recently been rebuilt amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana`s prime game viewing regions.Okuti draws its influence from water which flows in front of the camp, with its abundant birdlife, fish and sandy river banks, it remains an oasis of serenity and peacefulness.
 
Situated in the heart of the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, guests can experience unhindered views in specially - designed safari vehicles. Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, and its consistent year-round game viewing makes it ideal for the first time visitors to Botswana.
Guests can also explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat, and the areas open lagoons and winding channels make it a birder’s paradise, complete with herons and storks in the breeding season.
 
Okuti caters for a maximum of 18 guests, accommodation is in large beautifully appointed rooms each with en-suite bathroom with inside and outside showers, hot and cold running water and flush toilets.
Okuti comprises of five twin-bedded 'Mosasas' ( ancient tribal word for house of reeds), one of which is a honeymoon 'Masasas featuring an outdoor bath too) and two are family units (sleeping 5 people) consisting of two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, ideal for families as Okuti is a child friendly lodge (Okuti accepts children from 7 yrs old all year round).
 
Okuti’s spacious curved mosasas are located on raised teak decks with river views.

Attractions at Okuti
Okuti offers one of the best value safari experiences in the Moremi/Okavango region of Botswana with excellent year round game viewing as Moremi Game Reserve has widely varied habitats supporting a huge variety of wildlife and is a protected area.
Okuti is ideal for families and has two family rooms available. Okuti accepts children from the age of 7 years and up all year round as the nature of the activities are safe for children (game drives and boating only).
Okuti can accommodate clients wishing to self drive (in 4WD) into Moremi Game Reserve, offering an adventure and an alternative to flying.
 
Day 5
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will transfer by plane to Maun for your onward flight.

Dinaka
An exclusive private reserve hugging the northern edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Dinaka is host to one of the most unique biodiversities in Southern Africa. This ever-changing desert landscape gives refuge to the Kalahari lion, springbok, Oryx and brown hyena. The camp itself was acquired in 2017 and provides the perfect start or finish to any discerning travelers Botswana safari.
 
Accommodation
Dinaka accommodation in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve 
Guests are accommodated in seven spacious twin and double-bedded safari tents, each en-suite bathroom has an indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Families are accommodated in a two-bedroomed tent, sharing a spacious en-suite bathroom – ideal for families in this child-friendly camp. Dinaka’s tents are well spaced and raised up on wooden decks giving the perfect vantage point over a permanent water hole. Connected by wooden walkways all areas of camp are accessible by wheelchair.
The annual rains transform the arid desert landscape into a lush profusion of Kalahari vegetation, offering guests a unique insight into the lesser known desert experience. The Sleep Out Deck offers guests a panoramic view and the opportunity to spend the night under the magnificent African night sky.
 
Activities
Situated alongside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the focus of activities at Dinaka is exploring the Kalahari experience with wildlife ranging from giraffe to the antelope, small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine to predators including the Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard and brown hyena. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Our window seat guarantee ensures no more than four guests per vehicle when out on game drives. Alternatively, you may get more up close and personal with nature on foot with guided bush walks. Birding is particularly spectacular as Dinaka hosts over 200 different bird species including the Kori Bustard and Crimson Breasted Shrike and a high concentration of Pale Chanting Goshawks.

Attractions
Dinaka, meaning “horns”, is a private reserve located on the northern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The reserve offers guided walks in addition to day and night game drives. Year-round water holes result in spectacular photographic opportunities either from the vehicle, on foot or one of several hides/bunkers. The perfect contrast to a stay in the Okavango Delta, with an added hidden treasure!
 
Day 3 & 4 – Kanana (Okavango Delta)
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) is transfer back to the airstrip to board the light aircraft and enjoy a scenic flight where you will witness the Kalahari Desert transform into the Okavango Delta right before your eyes! On arrival you will be met at the Kanana Airstrip by your guide and from there it is a short road transfer to camp.

Day 5 - Maun
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will transfer by plane to Maun for your onward flight.

After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) is transfer back to the airstrip to board the light aircraft and enjoy a scenic flight across the Okavango Delta to the Moremi Game Reserve. You will be met at the Xakanaxa Airstrip by your guide and from there it is a short road transfer to Okuti.
 
Day 7 - Maun
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will transfer by plane to Maun for your onward flight.

Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate camp located on the edge of Shinde lagoon, teeming with animal and birdlife. The main camp’s unique tree house made of a multi-tiered raised dining/lounge area under canvas, set amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen, complements the atmosphere of this original safari camp.
 
Shinde was refurbished in 2015. The elegance and historical charm of the iconic Shinde camp has been enhanced by enlarging the eight classic safari guest tents to incorporate a spacious bathroom with a large walk in shower and luxurious fittings. The larger bedroom with new linen and furniture in tasteful colours provide the perfect retreat. Wide sliding doors leading onto the extended front decks afford breath-taking views over the open floodplains or the mysterious waterways of the Delta.

Each tent, strategically positioned, offers splendid views, whether across the Delta’s mysterious waterways or open grasslands.
 
Shinde Enclave is an exclusive ‘camp within a camp’, offering the ultimate in personal service and an indelible wilderness experience. With a private dining and lounge area, it is the perfect retreat after a day’s activities. This intimate hideaway also offers guests the services of a private chef, waiter and housekeeper as well as their own professional guide and game drive vehicle. Attractions at Shinde
Situated on a private concession that allows guided walks, mokoro excursions and night drives in addition to game drives and motor boating (both water and land activities year round).
An excellent location in the delta with permanent water for year round water activities as well as large dry areas for game drive routes, this combination provides the habitat for a wide variety of wildlife found consistently in the area.
Included in the wide variety of game found at Shinde, there are regular sightings of the rarely spotted sitatunga antelope.
Fly or spin fishing throughout the year - variety of species such as tilapia and tigerfish (best months September - April).
Shinde is a delightful luxury honeymoon option in the delta where guests are accommodated in the honeymoon tent and enjoy some special touches including the option of private breakfast, days can be taken at a slightly more relaxed pace than a normal safari routine!
 
Day 5 - Maun
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will transfer by plane to Maun for your onward flight.
 
You can swap Dinaka for either Kanana or Okuti on the above itinerary.
