Singita Pamushana Lodge (Malilangwe)

Singita Pamushana Lodge and Malilangwe House

Singita Pamushana Lodge and Malilangwe House are perched high on a sandstone ridge overlooking the shimmering expanse of the Malilangwe Dam. The Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is wild and remote in Southern Zimbabwe, bordering the Gonarezhou National Park. The lodge’s guest experience allows for a safari that’s both soothing and inspiring. With comfort, intuitive ease and a complete sense of freedom underpinning every stay.

Featuring a series of staggered and interlinked platforms, Pamushana’s main lodge area provides a variety of living spaces. With its panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and beautiful Malilangwe Dam below. A cliff-top fire pit and bar-deli overlook the dam. Providing the perfect setting for alfresco dining and fireside storytelling. Guests at Singita Pamushana can enjoy the infinity swimming pool at the main lodge area. That’s if they want to be more social than using their own private plunge pool!

Malilangwe remains virtually untouched by humankind. It occupies a key position in an area that is potentially one of Africa’s largest bio-refuges. The vegetation on the ridges and rocky outcrops is characterized by flat-topped Mountain Acacia woodlands and ironwood thickets. The area is home to hundreds of baobab trees. As well as a great variety of rare and abundant wildlife. And more than 500 bird species, including many raptors.

This is the only lodge in the Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve. Therefore, is accessible only to Singita guests. The reserve’s abundant wildlife and this exclusivity allows for a truly one-of-a-kind wilderness experience.

Best Time to Go on Safari, Weather & What to Pack

Southern Africa is a year-round destination. Traditionally the dry winter months (April to October) are best for game viewing. This is due to the shorter grass, lack of foliage and the absence of water. Forcing the game to concentrate around the remaining sources of drinking water.

Annual rainfall, usually in the form of short afternoon thunder showers that clear up within an hour, occur from December to March. Many species give birth to their young around the start of the rains, so the bush is alive with newborn animals.

October – April:

The weather is warm during the day and cooler in the morning and evenings. We recommend casual summer clothes (shorts and cool shirts) and a warm jersey/sweater for the cooler times of day.

May – September:

This is Fall and Winter and the temperature will be mild during the day. But colder in the mornings and evenings. We recommend casual light clothing and a very warm parka/jacket for the extremely cold mornings and nights.

Getting to Singita Pamushana & Malilangwe House

The best way to get to Singita Pamushana Lodge / Malilangwe House is by air. We can arrange scheduled flights or private charters for your trip. Flights are limited. Therefore, a minimum of a 3 night stay for 2 people is necessary.

Buffalo Range is 45 minutes from the lodge and this is where you will clear customs and immigration processes.

On scheduled flights, the weight of luggage is restricted to 15kg (33lb) for checked baggage and 5kg (11lb) for hand luggage. Only soft-sided luggage is permitted.

By Air from Johannesburg

The scheduled flights take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. Currently these are on Mondays and Thursdays but this is subject to change.

By Air from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport

Starting March 1, 2024, Halsted’s Aviation Corporation (HAC) will begin operating weekly flights between Buffalo Range Airport and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA). Enhancing connectivity between two sought-after safari destinations in sub-Saharan Africa. This short flight will be only 1 hr 15 mins and will start with a Thursday departure.

This new flight routing will enable guests to seamlessly link Singita Malilangwe in Zimbabwe and the Greater Kruger National Park including Sabi Sand lodges in South Africa into a single itinerary. Providing you can work with the Thursday flight, there is no additional overnight stay needed.

The flight originates from Robert Mugabe International Airport in Harare. Flies to Buffalo Range and then to KMIA. Before returning to Buffalo Range and Harare. Therefore, this flight will also allow guests to easily combine Singita Volcanoes National Park and Singita Pamushana / Malilangwe House. As RwandAir flies directly between Kigali and Harare (however an overnight in Harare will be required.)

Private Charter Flight to Singita Pamushana Lodge / Malilangwe House

Chartered flights can land at either Buffalo Range or Lonestar airstrip. Lonestar is Singita’s private landing strip. Singita staff will then transport you from either to Pamushana in a game viewer vehicle.
