Royal Livingstone Hotel accommodation - deluxe corner room with river view

The Royal Livingstone Hotel is the quintessential 5-star African experience, bringing together Victorian charm with an unrivaled setting on the banks of the Zambezi River.

The hotel’s recent refurbishment by the original interior designer, the world-renowned Paul Duesing, has ensured that it has retained its status as one of the finest luxury hotels on the African continent.

A total of 173 en-suite guestrooms in 17 river bank residences make up a hotel that exudes Victorian elegance and splendor.

Down to the finest detail of the lamps, the magnificent paintings and the black and white photographs of early pioneers, this is a place to reflect and rejuvenate.

The luxurious Presidential Suite has housed royalty, heads of state and celebrities, but each room is sure to inspire a similar feeling of quality in those who stay here.

The rooms are inspired by a combination of Victorian elegance and Africa’s tribal warmth. Each room has its own private terrace overlooking the Zambezi River.

All the rooms are luxuriously furnished with crisp white linen and large comfortable beds to offer the perfect sanctuary to retire to after a day spent exploring.

When you arrive at The Royal Livingstone, your Wedding coordinator will meet you and agree the remainder of your function detail. On the day of the ceremony, a representative will take you to the Council where you will complete (in front of the Registrar of the Council) an AFFIDAVIT IN SUPPORT OF APPLICATION FOR REGISTRARS CERTIFICATE (MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE).

You will be issued with a Certificate of Marriage at this office. Your Wedding co-ordinator may sign as a witness if so requested.

On the day before the wedding or on the day of the ceremony, the Bride and Groom to be are to report to the Livingstone City Council Office to complete the procedure of signing the marriage certificate. There are three options available to undertake this:
  1. The Licensed Ministers Office
  2. A Committee Room
  3. Venue of Guest choice (This would involve the Hire of the Minister to conduct the procedure).
Note: During this procedure two witnesses (preferably the biological parents) are required.

If have a matrimonial contract, you will have to bring this along with you (drawn by your notary) stating such.

You must be married on the same day that the documents are presented. The ceremony can however take place the following day.
A licensed Priest or Pastor will conduct the ceremony on the date requested if so required.

The Law of Zambia Does Not Permit the following:
1. A marriage of any party under the age of 21years
2. Polygamy

You also need to remember that you are getting married according to Zambian laws so will not be able to get divorced until 5 years of separation (not that you want to think about that when planning your wedding but it is something to take into account and a lot of people choose to have a mock wedding instead to alleviate any future problems like this).
