Kichaka Luxury Lodge suites

Relax and enjoy the scents and sounds of the African bush in 10 beautifully appointed and spacious suites, each with private deck, plunge pool and Wi-Fi connectivity. Experienced guides ensure fascinating game-viewing from open vehicles or on guided walks; enjoy a relaxing massage in the safari-styled wellness-suite, outstanding cuisine complemented by premium wines, and our friendly staff, who are key to Kichaka’s commitment to service excellence and a 5 star experience, tailor-making each guest’s stay to suit individual tastes, interests and moods.

Kichaka is situated within a 7,500 hectare reserve in the heart of what world-renowned conservationist Dr Ian Player describes as “the new wilderness frontier” – The Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Free from tropical diseases like malaria, the Eastern Cape is one of Africa’s favourite eco-tourism destinations.

A leisurely drive along the world-famous Garden Route from Cape Town – or a 60 minute drive from Port Elizabeth airport, Kichaka captures the rich diversity of the province. The reserve covers five eco-systems - each supporting distinct populations of insects, birds, plants, reptiles and mammals – including the legendary “Big 5.” There are approximately 300 different species of birds on the reserve.

Private lodges like Kichaka are helping conservation programmes, which have seen the return of large herds of antelope, rhino, lion, cheetah, and many other species to this part of Africa. The restoration of the delicate ecological balance over this region is helping to combat global warming by reintroducing carbon trapping trees and plants. Rural communities are also benefiting from this trend. The lodges create many more jobs – and at a higher rate of pay – than the farming operations they replaced. There are extensive training programmes which have brought new and varied skills to the rural communities – and not only as chefs, guides, housekeepers and waitrons. The reserves also provide work for game guards, and conservation officers, in addition to artisans such as mechanics, electricians and plumbers.

Kichaka guests leave more than footprints – they support the extended families of all who work at the Lodge through the jobs they create and help the continued restoration of the natural habitat in the area.
