Botswana luxury safari itinerary - Enjoy your Okavango Delta Safari with the respected Ker & Downey Botswana at either Shinde, Kanana or Okuti Camps for either a 4 or 6 night 5-star Botswana safari.

 
All camps are set in the Okavango Delta area and includes a donation to the Bana Ba Letsatsi (Child Aid project) in Maun.

We can tailor make these safaris to your specifications but here is two samples for you to see: 
2 nights at Kanana & 2 nights at Okuti
Day 1 & 2 – Kanana (Okavango Delta)
On arrival into Maun airport, a Ker & Downey Botswana representative holding a signboard with your name will meet and welcome you.  After collecting your luggage, you will be escorted to the light charter aircraft to meet your pilot for a short flight over the Okavango Delta to the camps airstrip where on arrival you will be met by your guide who will transfer you on an open safari vehicle to camp.
Day 3 & 4 – Kanana to Okuti (Moremi Game Reserve)
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) is transfer back to the airstrip to board the light aircraft and enjoy a scenic flight across the Okavango Delta to the Moremi Game Reserve.
You will be met at the Xakanaxa Airstrip by your guide and from there it is a short road transfer to Okuti.
Day 5
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will transfer by plane to Maun for your onward flight.

Day 1 - 4 (same as above)
Day 5 – Okuti to Shinde (Okavango Delta)
After breakfast is a morning transfer (but can vary in times) back to the airstrip to board the light aircraft and enjoy a scenic flight across the Moremi Game Reserve to the Okavango Delta. You will be met at the Shinde Airstrip by your guide and from there it is a short game drive to Shinde.
Day 7 - Maun
After breakfast and a morning activity (time permitting) you will transfer by plane to Maun for your onward flight.

Shinde_bedroomNestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate camp located on the edge of Shinde lagoon, teeming with animal and birdlife. The main camp’s unique tree house made of a multi-tiered raised dining/lounge area under canvas, set amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen, complements the atmosphere of this original safari camp.
Shinde was refurbished in 2015. The elegance and historical charm of the iconic Shinde camp has been enhanced by enlarging the eight classic safari guest tents to incorporate a spacious bathroom with a large walk in shower and luxurious fittings. The larger bedroom with new linen and furniture in tasteful colours provide the perfect retreat. Wide sliding doors leading onto the extended front decks afford breath-taking views over the open floodplains or the mysterious waterways of the Delta.

Each tent, strategically positioned, offers splendid views, whether across the Delta’s mysterious waterways or open grasslands.
 
Shinde Enclave is an exclusive ‘camp within a camp’, offering the ultimate in personal service and an indelible wilderness experience. With a private dining and lounge area, it is the perfect retreat after a day’s activities. This intimate hideaway also offers guests the services of a private chef, waiter and housekeeper as well as their own professional guide and game drive vehicle.
 
Consisting of three luxurious tents built on raised teak decks and overlooking windswept papyrus beds, Shinde Enclave accommodates a maximum of 6 guests.
 
Attractions at Shinde
Situated on a private concession that allows guided walks, mokoro excursions and night drives in addition to game drives and motor boating (both water and land activities year round).
An excellent location in the delta with permanent water for year round water activities as well as large dry areas for game drive routes, this combination provides the habitat for a wide variety of wildlife found consistently in the area.
Included in the wide variety of game found at Shinde, there are regular sightings of the rarely spotted sitatunga antelope.
Fly or spin fishing throughout the year - variety of species such as tilapia and tigerfish (best months September - April).
Shinde is a delightful luxury honeymoon option in the delta where guests are accommodated in the honeymoon tent and enjoy some special touches including the option of private breakfast, days can be taken at a slightly more relaxed pace than a normal safari routine!

Kanana (Awarded five star status by Botswana Tourism Board)
Kanana_bedroomKanana is a hidden jewel set on the Xudum River in the southwest Okavango Delta. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palms, figs, ebony and knobthorn, and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The nature of the habitat means it is the perfect place to experience the diversity of species found within the Okavango Delta.

At Kanana guests are accommodated in seven spacious, twin-bedded tents and one family tent, set on raised teak decks, offering breathtaking views across the waterways. All tents offer en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. The tents are well spaced affording privacy, whilst still being within comfortable distance from the central dining and lounge area.
 
Dependent on the annual floods, the level of water transforms this dry camp into a true water experience and in the early months of the year you may actually enjoy the visible spectacle of the water rising around the camp. Experience magnificent game sightings during drives as well as the unique experience of exploring the delta’s beautiful waterways by boat. There is also a Sleep Out Deck that offers guests the opportunity to spend the night under the splendid African night sky.
 
Situated in the Kanana Concession, the focus of activities at Kanana varies with the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta. Activities include morning and late afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Alternatively you may explore the crystal clear waterways by Mokoro (Glass-bottomed Mokoro’s (canoes) enable you to view the underwater world of the delta) or motorboat, and enjoy the magnificent variety of birds, plant and reptile species found in the area. Birding is spectacular, and Kanana hosts a seasonal heronry that teems with activity (Exclusive motorboat access to Southern Africa’s largest heronries), a Kanana highlight which converts all visitors to avid ‘twitchers’. Excellent area for birding with regular sightings of Pel’s Fishing Owl. Guided bush walks are highly recommended as is fishing for tilapia, African pike and sharptooth catfish.

Situated on a private concession that allows guided walks, mokoro excursions and night drives in addition to game drives and motor boating (water levels permitting).
Private access to one of the largest heronry’s in the Okavango Delta by motorboat.
Excellent area for birding with regular sightings of Pel’s Fishing Owl.
Spin fishing throughout the year (best months September - April).

Okuti (Awarded five star status by Botswana Tourism Board)

Okuti_CampThis delightful camp lies alongside the Maunachira River, which flows through the Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world renowned Moremi Game Reserve. Offering a welcome touch of comfort, Okuti has recently been rebuilt amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana`s prime game viewing regions.Okuti draws its influence from water which flows in front of the camp, with its abundant birdlife, fish and sandy river banks, it remains an oasis of serenity and peacefulness.
 
Situated in the heart of the world - renowned Moremi Game Reserve, guests can experience unhindered views in specially - designed safari vehicles. Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, and its consistent year - round game viewing makes it ideal for the first time visitors to Botswana.
Guests can also explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat, and the areas open lagoons and winding channels make it a birder’s paradise, complete with herons and storks in the breeding season.
 
Okuti caters for a maximum of 18 guests, accommodation is in large beautifully appointed rooms each with en-suite bathroom with inside and outside showers, hot and cold running water and flush toilets.
Okuti comprises of five twin-bedded mosasa ( ancient tribal word for house of reeds) and two are family units consisting of two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, ideal for families as Okuti is a child friendly lodge (Okuti accepts children from 7 yrs old all year round).
 
Okuti’s spacious curved mosasas are located on raised teak decks with river views.

Attractions at Okuti
Okuti offers one of the best value safari experiences in the Moremi/Okavango region of Botswana with excellent year round game viewing as Moremi Game Reserve has widely varied habitats supporting a huge variety of wildlife and is a protected area.
Okuti is ideal for families and has two family rooms available. Okuti accepts children from the age of 7 years and up all year round as the nature of the activities are safe for children (game drives and boating only).
Okuti can accommodate clients wishing to self drive (in 4WD) into Moremi Game Reserve, offering an adventure and an alternative to flying.

All transfer times in light aircraft will be advised the day prior to travel and are subject to fluctuations in accordance with aircraft scheduling. Movements are arranged to be as convenient as possible around activities and meals.
Fishing is not available in January and February and is subject to water levels for the rest of the year.
