Sanctuary Stanley's Camp:
Stanleys_Tent_Evening__AtmosphereSet among ebony and sausage trees, Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is located on a 260,000 acre private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. The natural wonders of the area constantly change over the seasons from lush green when the rain flows down the Angolan highlands, to dry savannah when the neighbouring Kalahari Desert tightens its grip on the terrain.

The camp is the home of the unique Living with Elephants interaction. Walking with a trio of orphaned elephants is an uplifting experience and one that will remain with you long after you’ve left.

Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built on a 260,000 acre private concession in the renowned Okavango Delta. This traditional safari camp has a large lounge area and dining area with incredible views over the floodplains in front of camp. The main area features a bar from where refreshing drinks are always served with a smile, a small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - guests can watch giraffe and other plains game march across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs. Everything about Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built to the highest ecological standards so that we don't damage this highly sensitive area.

The intimate camp features only eight safari canvas tents, each individually designed, furnished with African antiques that exude a classic and understated elegance that harks back to the explorers and colonialists of the 19th century. Each tent has a large wooden deck providing private areas where you can relax in a hammock while soaking in the surrounding sights and sounds or enjoy cocktails, before dinner is served in the spectacular dining mess.

Living with Elephants interaction
Thousands of elephants migrate through the area and here, as at the nearby Sanctuary Baines' Camp, you can have an astonishing experience walking with elephants in the bush. Three orphaned elephants have been brought up in the area by their guardians Doug and Sandi Groves. Every morning the elephants go for a walk around their home range, foraging for food and checking that all is well. A few people each day are able to accompany them on their walk through the bush and see the wilds of Africa through the eyes of an elephant - a truly uplifting experience that makes a lasting impression on all who share their time with the elephants. This activity includes a leisurely paced walk with a trio of semi-habituated elephants, followed by a picnic lunch in their company.
In order to avoid disappointment, pre-booking is recommended (additional cost).
The activity is available to a minimum of two guests and a maximum of ten.
Children nine years and older are allowed to enjoy the activity with parents.
Please note the elephants are on annual leave from 15 January to 15 February each year.

Sanctuary Baines’ Camp:
Baines' Camp sleeping under the starsSanctuary Baines’ Camp is a small camp with only five luxurious suites. With star baths and sky beds on your private deck, this is a romantic oasis. Baines’ is also one of only two camps to offer you the opportunity to walk with elephants.

Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is located on a huge private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. Set in a grove of trees, and surrounded by papyrus beds, this low environmental impact camp has been built using commercially grown wood and recycled tin cans. The local community in Maun was asked to collect as many cans as they could and were paid a fee for every can collected. These cans were then incorporated into the camp buildings, forming the backbone of the structures.

There are only five suites at Sanctuary Baines’, all with en suite facilities and four-poster beds. Traditional safari ceiling fans create a cooling breeze at even the hottest times of the year. The beds can be wheeled out onto the private wooden deck for a night under the stars, overlooking the shimmering waters of the Boro River where hippo can often be spotted. A private star bath can also be set up on the viewing deck upon request.
